Estimated Dividend in Portfolio Report

Hi @evankoh,
At the present moment, in the Portfolio Report page, there is a table that indicated the dividend estimated for 2025 (Collected and projected till end of 2025) and 2026(Projected from current month till 12 months later). The 2026 is always based on the 12 months from the current months. Is it possible to show the projection based on the current portfolio for the entire 2026 (Jan to Dec)?

It was limited by up to 12 months because my simple projection is only projecting up to 12 months.

I prefer to keep it that way because even 12 months projection is already not accurate since it is using a very simple approach. And based on what you suggested, there is a chance to project up to 23 months. That is on Jan of 2025, if we have to project for the whole of 2026, it is projecting 23 months ahead.

Hi @evankoh,

I understand that it will not be able to predict accurately as there is no of factors that affect the dividend payout for each company (Payout ratio, special dividend, etc). It is more intuitive to see it based Year to Year. This way user who are keen to building passive income based on dividend can roughly gauge how much they will be having in the following year based on the rough projection. This can also help user to decide a strategy for the following year to hit the desired dividend income.

Based on moving 12 months projection, user will have to adapt separately in the worksheet or wait till Dec of each year to plan. Just a fruit of thought to enhance Stocks Cafe.

Hi Evan,

Just to add on - I think it is a good idea to have the dividend projection on a calendar year basis. As you said, the although the projection is simple, it is the best estimate. I assume you are using the past calendar year data. It is more meaningful to see it by calendar year.

Cheers

Seems to be useful.

whilst i agree it is useful… why not just use the current year dividend as guidance after accounting for the 12 months dividend? For most of us the dividend jump YoY isnt that dramatic to warrant such projection and a forward look whilst certainly feel good is wholy inaccurate and not entirely “necessary” for the purpose of portfolio tracking.

There’s other things that i find more necessary (at least in my personal use case) which inc the ability to translate all portfolio transaction to a functional currency rather than just the trading currency.

What do you mean by this? You can choose the currency for each portfolio transaction beyond the trading currency, no?

@evankoh I just found the BVALUE function. Is it possible to change this to another currency?

Yes, you can change your Base Currency to any supported currency using this page from desktop → https://stocks.cafe/user/toupdateotherspreferences

Bought 6288 on HKEX few weeks back but the dividends is referencing from 9983 on TYO. So it overestimated this dividend by 100x.

Hi there,

Thank you for reporting. I have reviewed them and manually override. Please check if any is still off → https://stocks.cafe/stock/dividend/6288/fast+retailing+co+drc?type=xdetails&exchange=XHKG
