Invalid Total Error

Hi Evan,

I attempted to sell odd lots, but only 2 quantity were filled. :frowning:
Provided the transaction details below.

But I encountered an “Invalid Total” error when I attempt to log the SELL transaction. It seems like negative total value is not accepted. How should I go about capturing this transaction?

Ya. I tried to block negative total (I think).

Question. So, you sold 2 shares for 3.4 each and total is 6.8 hence with the brokerage fees of 10.9, you ended up having to pay SGD 4.1 and lost 2 shares? Sounds like a really bad deal if this really happened :frowning:

Yes that was the tuition fee I paid for this lesson with odd lots sale :frowning:

Ah…

I am really reluctant to enable negative total. It is actually a feature and not a bug to prevent users from wrongly entering values. In most cases, total will not be negative. In fact, this is the first request in almost 10 years of StocksCafe history :slight_smile:

So, maybe let me suggest this.

  1. Create a SELL transaction of the 2 shares with Fees = 0
  2. Then create a FEES transaction with fees = 10.9 (Do set the exchange and symbol accordingly so that it will be attributed to that stock)

Would above work for you?
