I recently just bought some Tencent shares (OTCMKTS: TCEHY) via Saxo, still a noob and didn’t aware it is an OTC stock and I paid higher commission (USD25 per transaction). What’s the different between buying HK stocks listed in HKEX or NYSE? I just noticed the transaction fee will be lower and of course I can trade in Asia time zone for HKEX stocks.
Thanks! Appreciate your insights here!
Should use FSMONE to trade HK stocks on HKEX, their fees are pretty good at 0.08% / min HKD 50 per buy/sell order. Most foreign stocks listed on American exchanges are American Depository Receipts (ADR), which are certificates issued by a US bank that represents shares in foreign stocks. Personally I feel more comfortable to own the HKEX version of the stock if I have a choice between HK and US exchange.
Thanks! Just realized that is a minimum 100 lot size in HKEX!
